M Nagarajan IAS
Municipal Commissioner
Shri M. Nagarajan, IAS (2009 batch, Gujarat cadre), currently serves as the Municipal Commissioner of Surat Municipal Corporation. A dynamic and visionary administrator, he has held several key leadership roles including Vice Chairman & Managing Director of GSRTC and Incharge Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). As District Collector of Mehsana, he championed innovation and entrepreneurship through the AMRIT Mehsana Startup and Innovation Mission, transforming the district into a thriving innovation hub.
He has also contributed significantly as Commissioner of Higher Education by implementing the National Education Policy, and has served as District Collector in Arvalli and Kutch, along with leading the Surat Smart City Mission as CEO. With over 22 years of diverse experience across Indian Railways, RBI, and the IAS, he brings deep expertise in governance, technology, and public systems.
An academic achiever with Master's degrees in Public Policy and Economics, along with an M.Sc. in Computer Science and CAIIB, Shri Nagarajan is widely recognized as a mentor to young innovators. He strongly believes in leveraging technology as a catalyst for inclusive growth and social transformation.
